A Letter About Me and My Vision
Little Lights - A soft place to land for your little one
Hi! My name is Aashmi Joshi. I am a young business startup owner in Powell, OH. I am starting up a part-time preschool from my home and we are currently enrolling!
For a bit background on me: I am incredibly passionate about working with children. I started working with children when I was 14 — starting with tutoring kindergarteners and babysitting in the evenings. A few years later, I worked at a child center in a gym, caring for little ones from 12 weeks to 12 years old (yes, a very big range!). When I turned 18, I spent an entire summer working with children full-time, and that’s when I knew: this is what I want to do with my life.
From there, I became an after-school lead and assistant teacher at a preschool serving infants through kindergarten. I spent time in every classroom, with every age group — I even served as the school chef for a week! Each role deepened my love for this field. Later, I worked as a preschool administrator for 18 months, learning the ins and outs of running a program and falling in love with the work all over again.
I love this field and working with young minds so incredibly much, and my goal, at the end of the day, is to create a soft place to land. A soft place where learning is wondrous, not forced. Where love is freely given, not earned. Where little minds are respected and cared for just as they are. I want to create a space where children feel loved and valued and parents feel safe, comfortable, and okay leaving their little ones. Where both parents and children can take a breath and pause, for a moment.
This Fall, I am enrolling for a part time preschool option from 8am-12pm / children can be enrolled for 2 days a week, 3 days a week, or 5 days a week. I will have low ratios of 1:6 to offer as much individualized attention and care as possible. The curriculum will be a blend of different educational philosophies: Montessori (following the child), play-based learning, Waldorf (creative learning); but at the core of it all, I want to teach love, safety, care, kindness, and gentleness.
I would love to work with your family and give you more information and even set up a meeting to meet you and tell you a bit more about myself! I know how daunting getting your child started with preschool can be, so please don’t hesitate to reach out at all with any questions, concerns, thoughts, or comments. I truly look forward to hearing from you and working with you in the future!
I hope your day treats you well :)
